This course is perfect for those:

Seeking a pathway to an apprenticeship in an engineering trade such as:

  • Mechanical (electrical, plant mechanic, production systems),
  • Fabrication (sheet metal, boilermaker, welding), etc.
  • Machinist (Using lathes, mills and other workshop machinery to turn)
  • Wanting a job as a trades assistant

Course Overview

  • Who: School-Based Students in Year 11 or 12 with interest in the Engineering Industry
  • Duration: 2 days per week over 4 terms
  • Where: All training conducted on school grounds during school hours
  • Equipment: All student resources, equipment, building materials and personal protective equipment is provided, including a “High Vis” shirt with school logo.
  • Future Pathways: Partnerships with industry, providing work experience and apprenticeship opportunities.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • A good attitude and passion in working with metal
  • You do not need any previous experience to enrol in this subject
  • basic written, numeracy and verbal communication skills are desirable.

For the theory component of the course, resources are: Provided in hard copy, in Canvas and on USB if required.
